Mulled Cider

- 1 litre dry cider
- 85g brown sugar
- 3 allspice berries
- 3 whole cloves
- 3 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 orange, sliced
- 4 cinnamon sticks (optional)
Preparation Time: 4 minutes. Cooking Time: 20 minutes.
- Place the cider, sugar, all spice berries, cloves, star anise and cinnamon stick in a stockpot or large saucepan and bring to the boil on the boiling plate, hotplate on boiling setting or induction on high. Stir to dissolve the sugar.
- Transfer to the simmering plate or reduce the heat setting and allow to heat through gently for 15 minutes, then strain and discard the spices, except the star anise.
- Strain the mulled cider into a large heatproof jug and pour into glasses. Serve hot with slices of orange, the reserved star anise and a cinnamon stick if you like.
